Learn What Preventive Check-ups, Dental Cleanings, & Comprehensive Exams Can Do For Your Smile
The ADA (American Dental Association) recommends that all adults visit the dentist every six months for preventative cleanings, examinations and check-ups. That's something we certainly take to heart here at Signature Smiles, and we know firsthand that regular trips to the dentist, while they might seem like a hassle, will provide you with major dividends in terms of avoiding worse problems down the line.
It's all about keeping you healthy and happy, with that beautiful smile intact. By scheduling your regular dental cleanings at our Woodinville practice, you'll benefit in many ways:
Preventing tooth decay, gum disease and cavities
- Saving money and avoiding hassle by preventing problems before they start or get worse, and require serious dental procedures
- Keeping teeth white by removing stains
- Maintaining that beautiful smile
- Avoiding serious health issues which begin with oral hygiene problems
What happens at my regular dental cleaning appointment?
Something about the word "examination" makes a regular dental cleaning or check-up seem much more daunting than it really is. That's why we like to clear up for our patients what exactly happens during a typical appointment.
Your hygienist will begin by checking the surfaces of your teeth for cavities, while checking existing fillings. Next, the hygienist will perform a periodontal check to examine the health of your gums.
Now, it's time for the actual cleaning. This removes hard mineral or plaque/tartar buildup from your teeth and your gums. A thorough flossing will be performed, and a polishing compound and fluoride will be applied. You'll get that nice and fresh feeling that you can only experience from a professional dental cleaning!
The dentist will thoroughly examine your entire mouth for any other issues, while checking your x-rays (if they were performed at the beginning of your visit) for signs of everything from cavities to wisdom teeth and other issues which may not be visible initially. Any recommendations for follow-ups will be provided, whether it's a filling or the performing of any further treatments or procedures.
The entire process should be as quick, painless and hassle-free as possible, and that's what we strive for with each and every one of our patients at Signature Smiles!
