Comprehensive & Effective Preventive Dentistry Care for the Entire Family
Exams & Cleanings
The ADA (American Dental Association) recommends that all adults visit the dentist every six months for preventative cleanings, examinations and check-ups. That's something we certainly take to heart here at Signature Smiles, and we know firsthand that regular trips to the dentist, while they might seem like a hassle, will provide you with major dividends in terms of avoiding worse problems down the line. It's all about keeping you healthy and happy, with that beautiful smile intact.

You should brush your teeth at least twice per day, once in the morning and once before bed. Use high quality fluoride toothpastes, and a soft-bristled brush. Don't forget to brush the top of your tongue, as well as your gums, for a full-mouth cleansing process. Flossing should be done at least once per day. Always floss before your brush. In conjunction with flush, a once daily mouthwash can also make a huge difference not only for fresh breath, but also in killing hard to reach bacteria which can quickly build up.

Sealants cover up small cracks or openings in your teeth or between your teeth in order to prevent decay in those spots. Dental sealants are made from a plastic resin material which will bond to the surface or your teeth, and harden after application to remain solid and in place. Not only will this prevent bad decay and erosion, but it will actually make your job brushing much quicker and easier. Sealants can be applied to either children or adults, although they are not commonly utilized for baby teeth.

At Signature Smiles, we focus on more than teeth, we're all about the "mind, body and smile." That means improving all-around health and preventing very serious issues before they occur. Right at the top of the list is oral cancer, which can be life-threatening if not diagnosed and treated appropriately. The oral cancer screening process includes a careful visual examination, along with exploration of the tissue of the mouth and throat. Further tests may be performed, such as a brush test, which collects cells from a suspicious lesion in the mouth for further analysis and evaluation.
